The Maruka School for Yoga, Healing Arts and Retail Boutique opened its doors in June 2007, and represents the incarnation of a life long dream for Debra Agostini and Keith Kaye. With a serene studio space upstairs and attractive boutique on the main floor, Maruka provides a central depot to pamper one's self--to nurture holistic wellness within, and enhance confident beauty without. Combining a carefully tailored yoga and healing arts program with unique artisan jewelry, fashion accessories and natural body products, Maruka is a new concept in holistic wellness. Come re-new, re-vitalize, and re-discover yourself.
Maruka takes its name from a black-water river in southwest Guyana where Debra spent many summers on her uncle's coconut estate. Maruka instills the tranquility of God's nature and reconnection with the natural abundance of Mother earth. With this foundation, we have firmly committed to pure holistic healing art practices and 100% natural body products. The boutique offers unique artisan jewelry with semi-precious gem stones and core metal elements.
About the Founders
Debra Agostini and Keith Kaye committed and intertwined their paths long ago on their search for physical, mental, and spiritual health. Though Debra is the visionary and driving engine of the holistic concept behind Maruka, they both are deeply committed to the ideals of the project. Through many years of self-study, both Debra and Keith believe in the natural healing power of the self, and they promote the yoga and meditation program at Maruka as a gateway to the greater healing arts.
Debra and Keith also bring a strong retail background to the business endeavor. Their first business venture together was a precious jewelry store on the island of St. Thomas in the US Virgin Islands. Upon return to the US, Debra managed the metro region operations for several jewelry franchises. Always with a great eye for fashion and detail, Debra researches and hand selects every item and product on display.
